Counselling at the Bay Tree
Professional, confidential therapy
Experienced Counselling Professional
With over 20 years experience as a counsellor, I established Counselling at the Bay Tree in 2006. I came into counselling from a background in language teaching, and because I found out for myself how helpful counselling can be. I love counselling because I am always interested in people's stories and finding out how they have come to be where they are in life. In this way, everyone's counselling is unique, and I work in different ways with different people. I have a Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling, and Senior Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a manager and supervisor of counsellors.
Psychodynamic Face-to-Face Counselling
Individually suited to you
Normally, face to face counselling appointments take place in my consulting room at the Bay Tree Therapy Centre in Christchurch town centre, and these will be starting up again when the premises re-opens. However, due to the current coronavirus crisis, all counselling is currently online.
If you are struggling with difficult feelings and decisions, it can just be a great support to come and talk to a professional in a secure comfortable environment.
Psychodynamic counselling is also teamwork, as we go on to explore your life's journey so far, your present situation, and your future options. We will also look at your unconscious feelings and conflicts. Understanding yourself in depth enables you to make good decisions to get your life heading to where you want it to be. Common reasons for seeking counselling are: loss and grief, anxiety or depression, relationship problems, work-related stress, transitions to new life stages, or just not knowing where your life is going. This kind of work can be a rewarding investment in yourself and your own life.
Respect and support
I have a Diploma in Supervision from Iron Mill College in Poole, and supervise counsellors who work with individuals in private practice. I enjoy building a respectful and supportive collaboration and am continuing to work online via Zoom during the pandemic. I prefer to supervise counsellors who work relationally, and are familiar with psychodynamic concepts such as the unconscious and transference. I also aim to offer practical, thoughtful help with ethical dilemmas as they arise in the work, with reference to the BACP Ethical Framework.
My current fee for supervision is £50 for 60 minutes.

Flexible and Convenient
Essential support during these difficult times. Online sessions are a flexible and convenient way to access counselling, and I have received special additional training in working online during the pandemic. I can help you set up the sessions, and you may well find that working remotely becomes your new normal. Counselling can take place by phone or on Zoom, or by email if you would prefer to write rather than talk. This can be for as many or as few sessions as you would like.
£45 per session
Face to Face Individual Counselling
